PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspect has been arrested after heavy police presence outside of a home led to a lockdown at two nearby schools in Porterville.
Officers surrounded a home in the area of Morton Avenue and Palm Street on Friday afternoon.
Investigators say they were searching for 18-year-old Carlos Luna in connection to a shooting on October 14.
Officials say the shooting happened after a person was stabbed in the hand during a fight at a home near Grand Avenue and Villa Street.
Police say Luna pulled out a gun and shot at the victim's vehicle as they were escaping from the home.
When officers arrived, they said Luna and everyone else involved in the fight had already left.
Days later, officers and a SWAT team surrounded the home on Morton after learning Luna was there.
After several hours, police took Luna into custody at the home.
Bartlett Middle School and Belleview Elementary were placed under lockdown as a safety precaution for students.
The lockdown has since been lifted and parents and guardians were allowed to pick up their students at Belleview and Bartlett.
